Tips for your bike's manteinance
Actualizado: 19 nov 2021
We all hate breaking our bike and sometimes doing manteinance on your bike is horrible and tedious. But please, do it.
Check tire pressure
One of the most important factors in the quality of your rides is tire pressure. If it is too low, the effort to maintain speed will be much bigger than if it had an adequate pressure.

Note that the rear tire must have more pressure, as it supports more weight than the front. The indicated pressure is indicated on the tire, where the maximum and minimum pressure appears. Be sure to check your tires at least once every two weeks.
It is important to have the most essential elements in the cyclists' toolbox, one of them is the floor or manual air pump, preferably with a pressure gauge, to be able to verify the pressure suggested by the tire manufacturer.
Keep the bike clean
This is one of the most basic activities in caring for your bike that you can do yourself to ensure it works as expected. In addition, it is the first step to prevent bicycle components from deteriorating much faster.

On top of keeping the bike shiny, proper cleaning and lubrication also protects parts from wear and tear and prevents rust and corrosion from appearing. It is advisable to use a specific cleaner for bicycles.
Clean and lubricate the transmission
Permanently cleaning and lubricating the drive train (chain, lever, chainrings, tensioners, and derailleur) ensures a smoother gear change and a more comfortable ride. Have you heard loud noises and squeals coming from your bike? These are due to the friction of the metal, the dirt and the mud because the components are not lubricated.
Lubrication is responsible for the entire traction system to move smoothly, so doing this periodically is an excellent way to extend the life expectancy of the chain and sprockets, so you will not have to replace them so soon and therefore you will save money.
Keep in mind that how often you clean the drivetrain depends on how, where and when you ride your bike.
Check the brakes
For your safety and that of other riders, make sure the brakes work properly before each ride. Here's what to consider when checking your brakes:

• Test them by pulling and holding the levers to see if they work well.
• That the pads have not worn to the indicated limit line.
• That the brake pads correctly touch the disc: first the front part of the pad, then complete.
• Rotors must be clean to avoid contamination and decreased braking performance. Use a brake cleaner for good results.
